In discussing concepts of wellness in Positive Psychology, Vaillant (2003) stated what became clear was that the opposite of illness was not freedom from disease but rather fitness and resilience.”  Resiliency is described as a quality that allows people to thrive in the face of adversity. There are many components that make up resilience, according to Bonnie Benard (1991) refer to pages 239-240.
